One of our Canadian Fellows, Kira Obrazcova, a native Latvian, requested assistance for a rural dental clinic which had been servicing approximately 10,000 people (including two nursery schools and a primary school), with outdated equipment left over from the Soviet regime. In 2005, a grant of $5,000 was provided to ship donated equipment and supplies for an ongoing project in the Village of Hope, a volunteer dental clinic operated by a group from Winnipeg, Manitoba at an orphanage and school in Kitwe, Zambia. This group had previously been funded to purchase portable equipment for use in projects in the Philippines, and in Sri Lanka.
